year 1 – webdesign skills – week 1

we are going to dive straight into some webdesign today and see how you get on

so ….

we will be looking at the blogs I have set up for you

• how to post text to them
• how to customise and change themes
• how to add images to posts
• admin stuff – changing passwords and titles etc
• embedding youtube
• categories and tags

I have also set up some webspace for all of you

apart from corey – cey.minimise.org and charlotte – cev.minimise.org

you should have all received an email from me with some important logins and passwords

we will also look at some simple html and use ftp to upload the files to your webspace

so at the end of the session you should have an active blog and at least one page on a web site

there are a number of wordpress videos covering all the work we do with wordpress today in folder 166 in the software tutorials – they cover

1. wordpress 01 > first post with image
2. wordpress 02 > title and tagline
3. wordpress 03 > links
4. wordpress 04 > categories
5. wordpress 05 > embed video/youtube
6. wordpress 06 > adding files

we will see how far we get with the html – some of you may want to push on a little further

add some posts to your blogs – some stuff about what you have been doing in the first week of the course, include some images, add some youtube videos you like, play with the themes
